A loan of $2,075 helped a member working capital.

Las Golondrinas De Chajabal Group's story

Mrs. Adelaida is a single mother who has finished the third level of basic education. She has an eight year old son for whose expenses she is completely responsible. She is a weaver and for the past 11 years has created a business making traditional textiles.

Relying on enthusiasm and the drive to improve, she called together some of her neighbors to organize a group in order to be able to solicit a loan. The communal bank is called LAS GOLONDRINAS DE CHAJABAL (The Swallows of Chajabal). The name was elected by all the members and also includes the name of the group’s location. The group consists of 11 women members who dedicate themselves to various activities including animal husbandry, weaving, and selling basic necessities.

The loan will be used to buy primary material and in this way increase the volume of sales. One of the difficulties of owning a business is lack of capital, however Adelaida has been able to continue forward and she hopes that her business will be bigger and more productive.
