A loan helped a member to gain access to cost-efficient hybrid seeds and fertilizer for maize cultivation.

Moses' Group's story

This season is not the first in which Moses is working alongside One Acre Fund. He has been a member for a few years now, having joined the program in 2015. Although he is the only person featured in the above picture, he is actually representing his group of 17 farmers in Teso District, Kenya.

Moses is often described by his community as a very hardworking individual. He decided to be the one to represent his group because he was just proposed by the team. Like many of his fellow farmers, Moses decided he wanted to be part of the One Acre Fund community in order to get the best-quality fertilizer and hybrid seeds. He hopes to use the profits from this year’s harvest to send his children to school.

This loan will not only help Moses, but also the whole group, who will receive maize seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 18.75 acres of land.

In this group: Moses, Goret, James, Jane, Noeli, Lucy, Milred, Everlyne, Peter, Roggers, Stephen, Joseph, Kenneth, Sylvanus, Teresa, Vincent, Sylivia

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
