A loan helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer to improve harvests of maize.

Edward's Group's story

Pictured above is Edward, often described as an extremely hard-working individual. He is 64 years old and has 8 children. As a group leader, he is representing his group of 14 farmers in Teso District, Kenya.

Edward is returning this season to work with One Acre Fund again as this means that he is able to get the best quality fertilizer and hybrid seeds, which is why he decided to join in the first place. Edward says that he is happy to have made that decision because, since he first joined in 2016, he has been able to consistently feed his family. This has improved his day-to-day life significantly. Edward will use the profits from this season to send his children to school.

The group will use this loan to purchase seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 8 acres. Some members of the group will also be purchasing a total of 2 solar lights.

In this group: Edward, Anne, Ruth, Rose, John , Wycliffe, Wilikista, Peter, Benard, Tom, Robert , Pascal, Peter, Philip
