A loan of $700 helped purchase fabric.

María Estela's story

María Estela C. D. P. is 45 years old and resides in Soyapango, which is located in the Department of San Salvador. She is a single mother who works very hard so that her three children (ages 23, 17, and 15) can get ahead. María considers them to be her greatest work. The two younger children are students.

She has a sewing workshop located in her house where she makes different types of garments such as blouses, trousers, shirts, skirts, and dresses. María also produces curtains and bedspreads. She receives her work through orders that are placed in advance. Since she has many years of experience and her work is well-crafted, María has earned the confidence of her customers. María is the type of person who wants to get more out of her work, so she also plans to start producing children’s clothing, pajamas, and men’s boxers. Her products are sold at home and also on the street at various markets and in different regions of the country. Everything she does is a result of her desire to earn extra income to meet all of her household expenses.

María is requesting a loan in order to buy fabric in different colors and patterns so that she can produce more merchandise.
