Malia's story

Malia is a mother whose using her weaving skills to earn money for her family.

She has five children, and they live at their own home with a husband who is a farmer.

Malia weave mats only, using brown pandanus. Brown pandanus are more accessible to than white pandanus in their village. She weaves mats, then sells some at the local market. More are sold to her relatives overseas. She has cousins who reside overseas, are willing to help her marketing her mats.

Malia is applying for a loan to buy more pandanus for her weaving and also pay to ship her mats overseas. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, many of the goods prices have increased, including cargo fees.

Only a loan will help Malia get her mats overseas!

She and her husband plan on renovating their house and building a better one for their children.
