A loan helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize.

Benard's Group's story

Benard, pictured above, has been a farmer for six years, and is now proud to represent his group of 14 farmers in Teso District. He is 32 years old, married and has four children.

Benard likes to think of himself as a very hardworking individual. He has been working alongside One Acre Fund since 2019 and decided to represent his group because he was just proposed it by the team. He says that being part of the One Acre Fund community has meant that he has been able to consistently feed his family. Benard plans to use the profits from this coming season to send his children to school.

In total, Benard’s Group will receive inputs to cultivate 7.25 acres of land. Given that some members of the group will also be purchasing a solar light, with this loan, the group will also receive a total of three solar lights.

In this group: Benard, Metrin, Magret, Anna, Jackline, Jacline, Justine, William, Joseph, James, Gerald, Elizabeth, Francis, Stanely

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
