Martha Betulia's story

Martha Betulia V. A. is 45 years old, she is single and the mother of six girls. She lives in Barrio Centro in Jaticalpa, Olancho, Honduras. She owns a restaurant where she works with her daughters from 8 in the morning to 8 at night every day. She started 9 years ago selling pupusas (stuffed corn tortillas). Her business has expanded and her menu includes all kinds of food. Her business is well known and she has many clients.

With this loan of 12,000 Lempiras she will purchase ingredients to make different foods. She will purchase soft drinks, meats, vegetables, milk products, juices, eggs, condiments, beans and rice. The loan will help her expand her business and her earnings, with the goal of helping her daughters with their tuition. They do not receive any support from their father.

Her dream is to have a larger business and so see her daughters in professional jobs. Martha has been a good client of FAMA (Kiva field partner) for seven years and the loans have helped her invest in her business. She is very grateful for the support.
