A loan helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer to improve her maize harvest.

Florence's Group's story

Florence, who appears in the photo, is often described as an extremely resourceful person. She is 40 years old and has six children. As a group leader, she is representing a group of five farmers from Alego District, Kenya.

Florence is returning this season to work with One Acre Fund again, as this means that she is able to have access to quality training and learn new farming methods, which is why she decided to join in the first place. She says that she is happy to have made that decision because, since she first joined in 2016, she has been able to consistently feed her family, which has improved her day-to-day life significantly. Florence will use the profits from this season to send her children to school.

The group will use this loan to purchase seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 5.75 acres.

In this group: Florence, Patrisia, Millicent, Selina, Rosemary

This loan is special because:
