A loan of $325 helps a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize.

Sheila's Group's story

Sheila, pictured above, has been a farmer for 2 years and is now proud to represent her group of 12 farmers in Mumias District. She is 33 years old, married and has 3 children.

Sheila likes to think of herself as a very friendly person. She has been working alongside One Acre Fund since 2019 and decided to represent her group because she wanted to help more farmers. She says that being part of the One Acre Fund community has meant that she has been able to consistently feed her family.

Sheila plans to use the profits from this coming season to send her children to school.

In total, Sheila’s Group will receive inputs to cultivate 4.25 acres of land. Given that some members of the group will also be purchasing a solar light with this loan, the group will also receive 1 solar light.

In this group: Sheila, Centrine, Hawa, Amina, Melvin, Omar, Yusuf, Yusuf, Linet, Samuel, Jackline, Geofrey

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
