A loan of $725 helped to buy additional stock for the store she runs in her home.

Nieves's story

Nieves is a 47 year old mother who lives with her husband and two children in the Chepén district, an agricultural area with a lot of commercial trafic, in the province of the same name. The area is in the La Libertad region, an hour from the city of Chiclayo.

She is in business selling groceries and household necessities, from a store in her home. She provides her customers with all sorts of everyday products, which they used to have to go all the way to the district market to buy. Nieves likes to make sure her customers always find the quality goods they want in her shop. Together with her friendly manner, this has meant she now has a group of loyal customers who choose to make their purchases in her shop. Her husband works driving a mototaxi (which is a motorcyle with a cab on the back that is used for transporting goods or passengers). With the two incomes they share in the running of their home.

Nieves wants to grow her business by purchasing additional stock to offer her customers, so she has requested a loan of 2000 soles from [field partner] Edpyme Alternativa that will help her realize her aims. Nieves is a calm and responsible woman. In the area where she lives, her neighbours consider her a reliable person. She has already been working with this organisation and has shown herself to be punctual and responsible with regard to her repayments.
