A loan helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer to improve harvests of maize.

Samson's Group's story

Pictured above is Samson, often described as an extremely experienced farmer. He is 54 years old and has 6 children. As a group leader, he is representing his group of 13 farmers in Teso District, Kenya.

Samson is returning this season to work with One Acre Fund again as this means that he is able to get the best quality fertilizer and hybrid seeds, which is why he decided to join in the first place. Samson says that he is happy to have made that decision because, since he first joined in 2019, he has learned a lot from farming training, which has improved his day-to-day life significantly.

Samson will use the profits from this season to buy more land to cultivate.

The group will use this loan to purchase seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 6.75 acres.

In this group: Samson, Violet, Stephen, Douglas, Irine, Mary, James, Josephat, Florance, Dismas, Moses, Jackline, Kiret

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
