Benkadi 7 Group's story

The seven members of the Benkadi 7 group are married women who, on average, are 42 years old with 6 children. Most of them live in polygamous families in Zambougou, one of the villages of the prefecture of Dioïla, Koulikoro region, 2nd administrative region of Mali. They collaborate with the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution in order to better organize their activities at the beginning of the rainy season. Among others, the crops cultivated are peanuts, pearl millet, corn and beans. This is their first planting loan with the institution. With this loan, BALAFO S. plans to pay for planting supplies before the price increases, small tools and ploughing to maintain approximately 1 hectare of peanuts. The crops are sold in the towns of Dioïla and Fana after the harvest to a clientele composed of men and women. They expect to make an average profit of 30,000 CFA at the end of the crop year.
