A loan helped us add a classroom for older children to our existing daycare!

Janet's story

I am a wife and mother. My husband is disabled & currently I help provide for my 2 young adult children who have lost employment due to Covid-19.

I started this business in order to care for my own children when they were little, intending to go back to work when my youngest child started school! By then I realized caring for and teaching children was my passion! I have successfully created a career over the past 25 years caring for the children of working parents in my community at my in-home daycare. I provide structured care, in a nurturing, comfortable, home environment. Which provides the children I care for space for healthy development. The children enjoy free play, art projects, & circle time. I help prepare the children for school. They learn the alphabet, colors, how to spell their names, how to share, follow instructions, and much more.

I would like to obtain a Kiva loan to help expand my business. I would like to convert my garage into a pre-K and kindergarten class, this would allow me to keep children longer age-wise, they could stay here for Pre-k and Kindergarten! With the changes the pandemic has brought, parents are wanting to keep their pre-K & kindergarten-aged children in a smaller environment. I have been asked by families if I could provide homeschooling for their children. I would love to provide these additional services to meet the needs of children and parents. To make this dream a reality I will need a larger space. Converting my garage would allow me to offer these options to my current families & families in my community.

Thank you for considering me for a loan.

This loan is special because:

It supports a female entrepreneur in expanding their business.
