Tiessiri 2 Group's story

The ten members of the group Tiessiri 2 are married women who average 38 years of age and five children.  They live for the most part in polygamous families in Tiendo, a village in Dioïla prefecture, Koulikoro region (2nd administrative region of the Republic of Mali).  They are collaborating with the micro-finance institution Soro Yiriwaso with the goal of organizing their businesses better at the start of winter.  The crops are peanuts, pearl millet, corn, and okra.  The group members are on their third farm loan, and the preceding loans have been repaid.

With this new loan, MARIA D. intends to buy supplies (before prices rise) and sundry equipment and to cover the cost of labor for maintaining one hectare of peanuts.  After the harvest, the produce is sold to a customer base composed of women and men in the cities of Dioïla and Fana.

The group members plan on making an average profit of 35,000 francs CFA, approximately, at the end of the planting season.
