A loan helped to expand her business and increase the size and range of her stock.

Namushi's story

Namushi is a 26-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her husband and two children in Senanga district in Zambia. She sells beans, kapenta (small, dried fish), spices and onions at the market.

Namushi is requesting a Kiva loan to expand her business by ordering more items to meet her customers' needs. She plans to use the profit she earns to support her family and help others in her community, as part of the CAMFED Association.

Namushi will repay the ‘social interest’ on her loan by volunteering three hours per week as a CAMFED Learner Guide, facilitating classes from CAMFED’s ‘My Better World’ program with students at her local secondary school, helping to build children’s self-esteem and motivating them to remain in school.

This loan is special because:

It helps borrowers withstand negative economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
