A loan of $725 helped to buy young pigs, to expand her business breeding and selling animals.

Andrea's story

Andrea is a 50 year-old mother. She lives with her husband, as well as her two children who are economically dependent on her. She and her family live in the Los Positos settlement, a rural area in the Mórrope district, which is characterized by having most of its population concentrated in rural pockets with great distance between them. It is located in the Lambayeque province, a little over an hour from the city of Chiclayo.

She has been selling animals for over twenty years. In her area, it is common for women to work in this business in order to help their husbands with meeting household expenses. Andrea raises young animals in a corral behind her house, and when her animals have grown sufficiently she sells them to the businessmen who always visit the area where she lives.

She would like to venture into breeding and selling pigs, so this is why she has requested a loan from Edpyme Alternativa for the first time. A loan of 2,000 nuevos soles will make it possible for her to buy young pigs to raise and later sell.

Andrea is a very hard-working woman and is dedicated to her family. She always helps her husband with the farm work, and in the area where they live, her neighbors and acquaintances hold her in very high esteem. She is pictured with her husband in the photo above.
