A loan of $825 helped a member purchase of intrants and small farming equipment, as well as labor costs.

Sabougnouman 3 Group's story

The ten members of the Sabougnouman 3 group are married women, who average 40 years of age with three children each. The majority of them live in polygamous families in Fatiana, one of the villages of the prefecture of Dioïla, in the Koulikoro region, which is the second administrative region of Mali.

They are collaborating with the microfinance institution, Soro Yiriwaso, with the aim of better organising their activities at the beginning of the winter season. The crops they cultivate include peanuts, pearl millet and beans. They are on their second farming loan, and the first was paid on time.

With this new loan, Cecile T. is planning to buy intrants before the price increases and small equipment, as well as paying the labor costs of maintaining around a hectare of peanuts and beans.

The produce, once harvested, is sold in the towns of Dioïla and Fana, to a customer base made up of men and women. The women are expecting to make an average profit of 30,000FCFA at the end of the season.
