A loan of $900 helped to buy more cows, sheep and goats for restocking and to modernize the plantantion with fertilizers.

Edwin's story

Determined A. Edwin is a happily married father of 3 children, two of whom are in school. Like any other responsible man, he examined how best he could satisfy his family requirements, having previously been engaged in poultry farming. He went into agriculture and built up a banana plantation and started up a farm rearing cows, goats and sheep in his home area of Katabwigute, Ntungamo.

Having a variety of livestock on his farm makes his business more attractive and beneficial. He has been able to capture a good market for his meat from butchery owners and for his bananas from hotel owners who use them to prepare a local dish for customers. This has seen him earn 210,000 UGX on a monthly basis. His main setback is having a small stock. With this loan, he hopes to restock more animals and also modernize the farming system on the plantation. This will improve both his market supply and his sales revenue.
