A loan helped to purchase more soap, rice, oil, and pepper to sell.

Annie's story

This is 40-year-old Annie. She is married and has 4 children, two of whom attend school.

Annie attended school up to 4th grade. She deals in a business selling cooked food and dry goods. She started selling to help her husband with some household expenses. She has managed her business for 5 years without any problem. She learned this trade from her mother and started to sell with her own savings. She sells Monday through Saturday, 10 hours per day and uses a car to transport supplies to her business site.

To expand her business, Annie requires a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva field partner. With this loan, she will buy more ingredients, which will be used to prepare cooked food, and dry goods to sell to her good clients.

In the future, Annie wants to build houses and continue her children's education. She wishes to say thanks to all lenders around the world.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
