A loan of $375 helped fertilizer.

Marisol's story

Marisol is 30 years old and lives with her husband and two children in a rented house. She’s been farming for more than ten years, specifically raising potatoes, corn, and a few types of vegetables, on land that she inherited from her parents. Once her products are harvested, she sells them in the main marketplace in Tarma, where she can fetch the best prices.

What she enjoys most about her work is caring for her crops so that they do not fall victims to diseases that affects their development and harvest. What she finds most challenging are the trips to the field to plant and then to harvest, which requires more effort and more labor. Eventually she expects her crops to improve so that she can sell her entire harvest for a better price and be able to establish herself economically.

This will be her second loan through MFP and she is very happy to have financial backing, especially since she has demonstrated herself to be responsible with her payments. She also likes being a part of her communal group, because all of its members are responsible and united. She is especially thankful to those who have helped her get this loan, which will be very helpful to her business’ progress. She will use the money from this loan to buy sacs of fertilizer for her next planting.
