A loan helped to buy certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers to expand her horticulture farm.

Hannah's story

Hannah (pictured above) is a 46-year-old mother of four children living in Nyeri, a place where every Kiva lender would like to be and enjoy the beautiful climate, observing the Great Mount Kenya and other staggering hills in the region. She is a mixed dairy and horticulture farmer, who injects passion and determination into her work.

Hannah is seeking a loan of 50,000 KES to buy certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers to expand her horticulture farm. By scaling up her business, she will relatively reduce production costs and increase her output. Her strategy is to use the returns from the investment to pay for more farm inputs. A lack of farm inputs has been a major problem that led to the closing of many farms due to poor quantity and quality of yields. Hannah should, therefore, be able to increase her profits. This will elevate her standard of living as well as improve her beautiful children's living standards. A loan to her will be a proper way of uplifting her.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
