Lucrecia G. is from the village of Laturan, Libona, Bukidnon. She is 58 years old. Lucrecia is married and has four adult children. Lucrecia owns and operates a business making & selling food. The main source of income for the business comes from selling snacks & other delicacies and also buying and selling different kinds of junk like plastic and steel in the local community. Lucrecia has been engaged in her business for over 35 years and earns approximately 7000 Philippine pesos (PHP) a month from it.
In 2006, Lucrecia joined HSPFI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business. She has successfully repaid her last loan from HSPFI, which was for 21,000 PHP and was used to purchase raw ingredients needed to make products for sale.
Lucrecia is now requesting her eighth loan from HSPFI, for 23,000 PHP, which will be used to to purchase additional inventory & as working capital. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve and expand it.
HSPFI is one of the accredited partners of Opportunity International in the Philippines. It is based in Cagayan de Oro City and is reaching out to the poor households of Northern Mindanao.
