A loan helped a member to gain access to cost-efficient hybrid seeds and fertilizer for maize cultivation.

Rosemary's Group's story

Rosemary, featured in the above picture, is representing her farming group formed by 10 farmers in Alego District, Kenya. She is 52 years old and a married mother of 4 children. She is often described as a very friendly person.

Although Rosemary has been a farmer for more than 20 years, she is new to One Acre Fund and decided to join this year because she really wanted to get the best quality fertilizer and hybrid seeds. Even though she is new to the program, Rosemary wanted to represent her group because she was proposed by team. With the profits earned from this season’s harvest, Rosemary hopes to be able to send her children to school.

With this loan, the group will receive farming inputs to plant 5.25 acres of land and 2 solar lights.

In this group: Rosemary, Clarice, Millicent, Rose, Jane, Lewnida, Carroline, Erick, Judith, Michael

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
