A loan of $375 helped purchase leather & fabric.

Alicia's story

Alicia is 54 years old and lives in her own home with her four teenage children. Seven years ago, she began making handcrafted wallets and even her children helped out in whatever way they could. Today one of her children is responsible for making the designs, another secures the studs and etches the designs, and she handles the sewing and making the finishing touches to each of the wallets. Whenever they receive large orders, they must work together and strive to deliver on time. One of her children is in charge of maintaining samples of what they have created in order to show to new buyers. Her regular customers are informal merchants who come to her home on a weekly basis to place more orders because the wallets she produces are of good quality. In order to stay ahead, she plans to expand her wallet manufacturing business as well as build a house.

This is her twelfth loan with MFP. She commits to submitting her loan payments on time, like she does today. Alicia is very satisfied with the work of the members of her Communal Bank because they are responsible with their payments. She plans to invest the money she requested in the purchase of leather and fabrics so that she can continue manufacturing wallets and making progress.
