A loan of $725 helped fertilizer.

Marcelina's story

Marcelina is 42 years old and a simple but hard working mother. She lives with her sister in a rented house and she would really like to improve her quality of life. Marcelina has always produced the income she needs to sustain herself, thought the farmland that she has painstakingly cultivated. She raises potatoes, peas, and corn, which she then harvests and sells in the main marketplace in Tarma, because that is where she gets the best prices for her products.

She has been doing this for the past 30 years and what she enjoys most is to plant, which she does with great patience, and she must ensure that plant diseases don’t affect her crops. She hopes to be able to increase the amount of farmland that she has, so that she can plant more crops.

This is her seventh loan through MFP. She has had an “on-time” payment record with her previous loans and she wants to continue. She is very committed to her communal group and to its development. She will use the 2,000 PEN ($725) to buy more fertilizer in order to improve the quality of her farmland.
