A loan of $575 helped purchase of inventory (prepaid cell phone cards, appliances and others).

Antonio Simao's story

Antônio Simão was born in the province of Inhambane in the District of Vilanculos in Southern Mozambique. He is married and the father of a 3 year-old daughter. He went to school until 7th grade but didn't finish due to the lack of financial resources. He lives in his own home with his family and also supports two siblings who live with him.

He left Vilanculos to look for a job in the Namaacha District. He started his business more than 7 years ago. Today, he owns his own appliance store in Namaacha's Central Market. He has one employee who helps him with the business. He has an income of 6,500 meticais per month, which is used in household expenses and still saves some in his bank account.

He has never had loans with other banks. He became familiar with Hluvuku through neighbors who are also salespeople. This is Antonio's fifth loan with Hluvuku and fourth with Kiva, in the amount of 20,000 meticais. He intends to purchase prepaid cell phone cards, appliances and others to increase his inventory. The previous loans were for 5,000, 7,000, 10,000 and 15,000 meticais. All were used for this same goal.

He is confident he will once again pay the loan back ahead of schedule and request new loans.
