A loan helped to buy farm inputs that she plans to use to expand her production, enabling her to make more income to support her family.

Judith's story

Dear lender, your loan can play an important role in spreading love around the world this festive season. Meet Judith, who is 56 years old and lives in Kitale, a town where the main economic activities include agricultural processing, particularly in corn farming.

She is a mixed farmer who has been farming for the past many years. Apart from farming, she also does dairy farming. She is seeking this loan to buy farm inputs that she plans to use to expand her production, enabling her to make more income to support her family.

The major impediment to the development of smallholder farms in Kenya is lack of short-term credit facilities. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is working hard to support smallholder farmers in Kenya by providing financing, therefore guaranteeing their survival. Judith is optimistic that Kiva lenders will support her during this time when the world is struggling to combat COVID-19.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
