A loan of $1,050 helped a member promote the commercial activities of the solidarity group.

Fass Diom Group's story

The FASS DIOM solidarity group was formed on December 14, 2008 following the creation of the management committee for the Banc Villageois of SERAS1, home to the solidarity group. It consists of eight women from the same neighborhood, united in a spirit of solidarity, sharing and mutual assistance. The group regularly holds consultation and/or awareness meetings, tontines, visits between members, etc. It is a very dynamic group engaged, for the most part, in small-scale commerce, dyeing and food services. The new loan will help strengthen these activities. Along with regular repayments by its members, the loans are reimbursed jointly by the group without any difficulty.

Mrs. Mareme F. is the head of the solidarity group. In the photo, she is standing second from left, wrapped in a pink shawl with white dots and wearing a blue scarf on her head (shown in the inset at the top right). She is 50-years old, married and the mother of four children in her care. She is also the guardian of another child entrusted to her by relatives. She has a beef fattening activity, and she plans to use her credit to buy an ox, fatten it up and resell it at the end of a 5-month period. She is contributing to the improvement of her family’s living conditions, namely with food and healthcare.
