A loan of $200 helped to buy fertilizer to improve the productivity of his fields.

Victor's story

Victor, 47, lives with his partner, Haydee (47) and their 3 children in their own house in a peaceful area of the Peruvian sierra. He and his wife decide very early every morning which of the fields need to be worked. They have been farming for 15 years growing grains (fodder ), potatoes, olluco and oca (Andean tubers), and they count on eventually having the help of their children. They also raise animals (rams and donkeys) and this helps them pay for the farm supplies they need to take adequate care of their crops. What they like the most is to water their plants because they know that water helps strengthen their crops, and the earnings from the farm are high enough to cover their household expenses and their children’s schooling. Since Haydee is a hard-working woman, in the future she plans to keep growing these crops that are native to Peru. This is the second time that Victor has a loan with MFP and he is happy to know that he will continue working with the members of the communal group since they agreed to take out a loan for a short time. They are responsible and supportive members in the repayment of the loan. Victor plans to invest the money in the purchase of some bags of fertilizer that he will spread over the plants this season so that the quality of the crops will be improved.
