A loan helped a member to buy three bags of smoked fish, which will strengthen their initial capital.

Zawadi Group's story

Bernadette is a client of the microfinance institution Hekima and represents the village group "Zawadi". She is 35 years old, married and has five children. One goes to school and four are still too young. Her husband is a teacher.

Bernadette started selling smoked fish in 2014 with starting funds received from her husband. Later, she joined the Hekima program to support her business and it grew progressively. With this new loan, she is going to buy three bags of smoked fish, which is going to strengthen her initial capital. The challenge of her activity is due to the increasing dollar exchange rate. Bernadette would like to be able to feed her family.

Finally, she wants to thank Hekima and its partners for their support of non bankable business owners in the context of the global health crisis. The photo only shows the group leader due to social distancing measures.

In this group: Jonas, Zawadi, Kabeya, Martine, Mamy, Justin, Jean, Uzamukunda, Noelle, Honorine, Bipfa, Bernadette, Yvonne, Tambwe, Doriyane, Claude, Pascal, Patrick, Amos, Mwiza, Seraphin, Ajabu, Noela, Sara, Angelique, Ibrahim, Clemence, Joelle
