A loan helped to purchase new kinds of flowers to grow in her garden and a grass-cutter machine to better provide for her customers.

Colette Tougaga's story

Colette Tougaga lives in a village which is located a 15 minutes drive off of Port Vila city. Her village is very large, and the main industry is agriculture. Agriculture is a main source of food and income in Vanuatu, so making an earning off of it has been quite satisfactory as the demand for local products has grown.

Colette Tougaga is 35 years of age and has four beautiful children of ages 13, 10, 6 and 5. All her children are attending the local primary school. She lives with her partner and children in their own shanty home.

Colette Tougaga has asked for a loan so that she can purchase new kinds of flowers to grow in her flower garden and a grass-cutter which will be used as another business to provide for her customers. She has been in her flower business for over 3 years now, and she also provides phone to phone services to provide credit for Vodafone and Digicel customers.

With the earned revenue, she will use to pay for her children's school fees and complete her unfinished home. This is Colette Tougaga's fourth loan with South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu) Ltd.

She has successfully repaid her previous loans on time.

Through her loans, Colette Tougaga is empowered to expand her business so she can become a successful businesswoman.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
