A loan of $550 helped purchase compost.

Jhonny's story

Jhonny is 25 years old. He is the only one living with his parents since his seven siblings are independent and have families of their own. Jhonny works in civil construction during the weekdays. On the weekends he grows coffee, bananas, and citrus fruits. He remembers how his father taught him the necessary farming techniques so that he could become a good farmer. His crops currently receive the proper care, but it requires that he travel several hours to reach his farmland. Even though it is a bother, Jhonny says, “It is worth it because all of my efforts are rewarded at harvest time and I generate good earnings at the market.” Since his job is quite profitable, he is able to save money for the future because he plans to study civil engineering.

This is the second time he has received a loan from MFP. Jhonny is excited to continue working with the other members of his Communal Bank because they are responsible when submitting their payments. He plans to invest the money he requested in the purchase of several sacks of compost that he will apply to his coffee crops so that he can improve the production of his future harvests.
