A loan of $725 helped purchase coffee plants & hire laborers.

Angelica's story

Angélica is 33 years old and lives with her husband Rodolfo, age 42, and their three children. They reside in their own home located in a peaceful area of the Peruvian jungle. For the past seven years she has been growing coffee with her husband, who had the patience to teach her all the necessary farming techniques. She likes having fields that are clean and protected from weather changes and infestation of pests. On the other hand, she does not like dealing with the collectors who haggle over the price of her products. Angélica is convinced that her products are of good quality so she should always be well compensated. To get ahead, she wants to increase her coffee production as well as increase the inventory in her store to boost daily sales. In addition to farming, she also manages a store where she sells food and basic necessities.

This is her second loan with MFP. Angélica is already familiar with the work methodology of her Communal Bank, so she enjoys being part of the group. She saves on a monthly basis and has learned from the experiences of the other members. Angélica plans to invest the money she requested in the purchase of coffee plants. She will also hire laborers to work in her fields in hopes of making continued progress.
