A loan of $725 helped buy supplies for farming business.

Liz's story

Liz, 31, is an enthusiastic and hard-working woman. She lives in a house she owns with her partner, Edwin, 32, and their two children. The children are her reason for getting up every day and meeting the challenges she faces. Liz has worked on farms since she was 14 years old and farming is her main source of income. Her husband, who works as taxi driver, also works on the farm. They grow coffee, bananas and pineapple on land that the own and, after they harvest the crop, sell it to a warehouse in the city of Lima. The quality of their crop is very high, an advantage because they receive a good return on it, but the crop is difficult to carry to market. Over time, Liz has learned to manage her business and her hard work has made it very profitable. In the future, she would like to buy 3 vehicles so that she can start a business transporting goods along the Pichanaki-Yurinaki route through the central jungle of Peru. This is Liz's second MFP loan and she is sure that she can repay it on time like she did the first loan. She also likes working with her community group. She will use this loan to buy bags of organic manure that she will spread around her farm.
