Mrs. Phan Sorn Village Bank Group's story

Mrs. Phan S. is a 52-year-old who is the village bank president, selected by the nine members of the group located in Krapeu Troum village in Kandal province. Each member will use their portion of their loan for a different purpose to improve their standard of living. Mrs. Phan S. is a farmer who owns a half-hectare (1.25 acres) of land she uses to cultivate rice to sell to support her family. Now she has some problems because her field has infertile soil. S., to improve production, she is applying for a loan to buy fertilizer. She will use the rest of her loan to hire farm laborers to help her farm. Mrs. Phan S. is a widow who lives in a three-member household. The man who sits on the motorbike in the photo is not a member of this village bank.
