A loan helped to buy constructon materials to repair a house and to buy fishing equipment and tools to continue a fishing business.

Arieta's story

When disasters strike, they have a direct impact on the livelihoods and food security of millions of small farmers, pastoralists, fishers and forest-dependent communities in developing countries. Since the natural environment is altered and affected after a natural disaster, the livelihoods of those that depend on it are afflicted.

After Tropical Cyclone swept through the northern islands of Fiji, Arieta’s village lay in its path on that cold December day in 2020.

Since then, they have sheltered Arieta and her family in an evacuation center and she is seeking a loan to re-establish her fishing business along with repairs to their home.

Arieta is seeking a loan to buy construction items to repair her home before she purchases the essential equipment and tools for her fishing business.

You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending. Arieta hopes that her lenders will be a part of her happy ending in her story of struggle and perseverance.
