A loan of $725 helped to buy materials to continue her business.

Mary's story

Mary is 39 years old. She is a hardworking woman who lives with her mother and son in her own home. For 10 years, she has been working in handicrafts made of corrospum (a micro-porous material similar to plastic). She is an expert in tracing and cutting didactic shapes, each one different from other creations. She makes all of her models without any visual aid; she just lets her imagination go. She has contracts with some school teachers and mothers, to whom she sells her work. She remembers how years ago she worked alone and now her relatives help her to be able to finish her orders around holidays. She feels satisfied with her work because she does it in the calm of her own home without neglecting her housework- although she says it was more difficult to get a client base at first. For the future she plans to grow commercially and expand her business so that she becomes known in the area and can attract more customers. This is the eleventh loan with MFP and she knows it will be very useful to increase her business' capital. She is committed to making all of her payments on time. Mary plans on investing the money she has asked for in buying corrospum wholesale in different colors, in addition to acrylic feathers and glue, which she needs to finish her didactic material.
