Mrs. Srorn Port Village Bank Group's story

Twelve people make up this village bank loan located in Koun Chreae village in Kandal province. The group loan is headed by Mrs. Srorn P., a village bank president. All the members will use their portion of the loan for different purposes to improve their family's living conditions.

Mrs. Srorn P. is 45 years old and is a Khmer cake maker. She is also a farmer who owns a half-hectare plot of land to cultivate rice to sell to supP. her family. She currently faces a problem in that it is time to grow rice but she does not have enough money to do this. She is, therefore, applying for a loan to buy rice seed, fertilizer and to hire a plow.

She is a widow with two children, one of whom is a seamstress in a garment factory, while the other is attending the local public school.
