A loan of $1,125 helped purchase fabrics and a new sewing machine.

Carlos's story

Carlos is 46 years old and lives with his wife, who takes care of their house. They have five children, all sons, ages 8, 10, 17, 20 and 22. The three youngest ones are in school while the eldest two have sewing jobs in Brazil. Carlos previously worked in a factory called Simple Costura (Simply Sewing) but after working there for a number of years he left to work on his own thanks to his experience and formed his own clientèle. He started his tailor business in the year 2000, working out of his home while his eldest sons who are now abroad helped him making all kinds of garments. At first he made clothing as much to take abroad as to sell since he traveled a lot and he could take the products, such as T-shirts, pants and lingerie, with him. His biggest dream is to expand his small business with the support of his sons. He is requesting the loan to purchase fabrics and a new sewing machine.
