A loan of $725 helped purchase of fertilizer for his crops.

Ugarte's story

Ugarte is 25-years-old. He's a modest, hardworking young father. He lives in his own house with his wife Nirce, 26, and his beloved daughter Joyita, who's 2-years-old. They are the principle motivation for all his hard work. The long days of work that Ugarte puts in at his small farm have made him realize that he has to work very hard to achieve a good quality crop. Every morning at dawn he walks approximately one hour to his fields where he grows coffee, bananas, cacao, and avocado.

During the past 8 years of agricultural work he's realized that he greatly enjoys farming and does it with much care, but part of the job is being very careful to avoid plagues which attack and damage the crop. In the future he hopes to buy new land to expand his crops. This is his third loan with MFP and he knows that he has to make his payments on time if he wants to gain access to other loans in the future. He's very active in his community. With the 2,000 PEN ($725) he's asking for he will buy more fertilizer for his crops.
