Altantsetseg T. is 49 years old and lives with her husband and daughter in Uvurhangai province in central Mongolia. She and her family all live together in a 'ger', a traditional Mongolian nomadic tent. Her daughter is a student while her husband works as a director of Uvurhangai province Democratic Party Branch.
Altantsetseg operates a small cafe in her town with the help of her family. She started her cafe in 2005 out of a small rented place next to her house. Due to her hard work, she has found success in a short time and built a two-storey house in where she is currently operating her cafeteria business. For the future, Altantsetseg hopes to expand her business so she can better serve all of her customers. She is a hard-working, productive woman who is requesting a 4,000,000 MNT loan in order to buy more materials, kitchen implements and equipment, and food ingredients in order to cook satisfying meals for her customers.
This loan is being administered through XacBank, a Mongolian for-profit microfinance institution. XacBank is located in every province of Mongolia, reaching some of the most rural micro business clients. With this Kiva loan, there is an opportunity for the entrepreneur to get a savings account including 9% of the interest if they pay back the loan on time. This is a special savings account that XacBank has specifically prepared for the Kiva loan borrowers to promote savings habits.
