A loan helped to buy building materials and stock of fuels (kerosene, benzene and premix).

Pasemaca's story

In many rural villages of Fiji, fuels such as kerosene, benzene and premix play a pivotal role in the day-to-day routine of residents. Kerosene is mainly used for cooking on a kerosene stove, whereas benzene is used for lanterns and premix is used for brush cutters and outboard-motor fiberglass boats.

Tropical Cyclone Yasa caused a lot of devastation in Pasemaca’s village, and many people suffered damage to their homes and their livelihoods. Pasemaca operates a fuel business, and she seeks a loan to help her continue her business. With damage affecting transportation, shelter and even food preparation, this generous lady allowed her customers to buy fuels on credit.

She needs a loan to buy construction materials for the repairs to her home and to buy more stock of fuel for her business. Since December 2020, a lot of relief work has been done through the help of government, foreign aid and NGOs, and Pasemaca is confident that her customer base will expand as they will also take advantage of her services.

A loan would help Pasemaca as she fuels the vehicle for rehabilitation and hope in her community.

This loan is special because:

It provides emergency funding to clients affected by tropical cyclone Yasa.
