Irma's story

Irma is 39 years old. She lives with her partner and their daughter Anel, who is 8 years old. They live in a place called Quimbiri, where they have their own house, in the beautiful forest around Cuzco. Irma used to work in the town of San Francisco, and after many years of hard work there decided to work full time in her own business, a tourist restaurant, which she set up with her partner. It has become a very profitable business, with many people coming during the week for the incomparable flavour of the exotic dishes she cooks, and so their income has increased slowly but steadily. A typical day for Irma lasts from 9am to 12 midnight, depending on the number of people she has to serve. Her great longing is to grow the business and increase its capacity, so they can receive more tourists. This is her thirteenth loan with MFP; she promises to keep making her payments on time. She also says she is happy with the communal bank, thanks to the good decisions they take. She intends to invest the loan buying tables and chairs, so that her customers will be comfortable.
