Obenikina 4 Group's story

Obenikina 4 is a group of married women from the village of Saginekan near the town of Kimparana in Ségou region (fourth administrative region of the Republic of Mali). They live in traditional families. On average, they are 36. Each has at least four children. They grow peanuts.

Looking to make their farming more profitable, the members of the group decided to join the loan institution Soro Yiriwaso three years ago. After paying off previous loans, they are now asking for their third seasonal loan,

Maimouna S. plans to use her loan to buy as many peanut seeds as she needs, plus small tools and fertilizer. at the big market in Kimparana. . After the rainy season, she will warehouse her harvest long enough for its value to increase, before selling it at the big market in Kimparana. and other nearby markets, retail (or often wholesale) for cash to customers who mostly come from big towns.

After their produce is sold, the members of the group hope to make a profit of 35,000 FCFA each to pay the interest on the loan and ongoing family expenses.
