Benkadi 2 Group's story

Benkadi 2 is a group of married women from the village of Toura Nabitokan in the ex neighborhood of Kimparana in the district of San in the Ségou region (4th administrative region of the republic of Mali) who live in traditional families. They are on average 45 years old, with six children, and grow peanuts. In order to ensure that their agricultural investments are profitable, the members of this group decided three years ago to become active in the loan program of Soro Yiriwaso. After having reimbursed previous loans, they are looking for a third loan.

Ada D. plans to use her loan in order to purchase peanut seeds, materials and inputs from the large market of Kimparana. After winter, her products are stored for a certain amount of time in order to ensure they are valuable before being sold in the large market of Kimparana as well as in other markets nearby. They are often sold in large quantities to customers from other large cities.

The members of the group hope to each realise a profit of 35 000 FCFA (approximately 67 USD) which they will use to reimburse the loans and interests on the loans and their family's expenses.

In this group: Ada, Mamou, Minata Lassina, Djeneba, Fatoumata Ousmane, Sata, Kadia Balla, Awa Ousmane, Setou Salif, Setou Madou
