01_Gpf And Liggey Cite Mariama Group's story

This group was created in January 2020 and is made up of 11 brave women who work together in a lingerie shop. They have forged bonds of friendship and solidarity, and all work in the same line of business.

Madam Aïta, who is on the left of the photo with her hand raised, is 56 years old, married and has four children. She has two boys and two girls, who are between 8 and 15 years old, and all attend school.

She works in retail, selling bed linen, clothes, and shoes. She buys her supplies in the capital and sells them in her hometown. She has 7 years of experience in this sector.

She is going to buy 20 shoes, 20 bedsheets and 20 men’s boubous (African tunics) that she is going to resell for a profit. She sells on credit and collects her money at the end of each month. Her business is doing well and she has many orders for boubous during the religious holidays.

Her profits allow her to improve the well-being of her children, above all their education and clothing.

In this group: Mariama, Aïda, Aïta, Yakhara, Claudine, Salla, Aminata, Amélie Touty, Khady, Ndéye Awa, Elisabeth
