A loan of $1,325 helped a member to buy more flour, oil, butter, sugar, etc., for her bakery.

Fuente De Paz 3 Group's story

Margarita is the coordinator of her group, Fuente de Paz 3 (Source of Peace), and her story is representative of her group and of Esperanza's Haitian and Dominican clients generally (many of whom recently emigrated to the Dominican Republic from Haiti). Margarita’s group is located in the rural area surrounding El Seibo, an agricultural area where running water (none of which is potable) and electricity are unreliable. She makes her home there in a simple structure with her longterm partner and her three children. Margarita is excited to be taking her eighth loan with Esperanza after having successfully repaid her previous loan and grown her business. She plans to use this loan to invest in her small bakery where she make bread, cookies and other baked goods. Margarita will use the profits to improve her business and, little by little, provide everything her family needs. She thanks you all for your support.
