Margarito's story

46-year old Margarito G. and his wife have six children between the ages of 9 and 20. His wife takes care of the home. Margarito has a piece of land where he grows maize. He plants the crop and takes care of it right up until harvest time. Afterwards he sells the maize to various customers.

Margarito and his family live in Ahuachapán department, the same area where he has his fields. Although he gets well paid for his crop, it is very hard work especially during the rainy season when the plants are often affected.

Margarito is seeking a loan so that he can buy a larger quantity of maize to plant. He also wants to buy beans so that he has something else to sell, and wholesale fertilizer to provide his fields with the care they need. This venture is very important to him as it is the only means he has of supporting his family. He has more than 30 years of experience in this work so his customers trust him and his product.
