Carmelo De La Cruz

A loan of $1,050 helped to buy soft drinks and drinks at wholesale to stock up for the festival days when he often runs out of these products, in addition he will buy raw materials and supplies such as meat and chicken.

Carmelo De La Cruz's story

Carmelo de la Cruz H. is 56 years old and lives in the "Ciudadela 20 de Julio" neighborhood with his wife and 4 children aged 22 to 31 years. If you arrive at this neighborhood you will find a kiosk that is well-known among the residents of this area. Soccer fans and followers are the majority of the customers of Carmelo's business. He makes and sells fried foods, soft drinks, and other drinks. He has 2 employees, and he works on a schedule from 4am until 2pm, because "The Kiosk of Carmelo" is a preferred site where people come to enjoy a good breakfast. Some day he hopes to convert the business into a restaurant with a room for events, and this is precisely his personal challenge.

Carmelo is applying for his 3rd loan with the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo for an amount of 2,000,000 Colombian pesos to buy soft drinks and drinks at wholesale to prepare for the festival days when he often runs out of these products. In addition, he will buy raw materials and supplies such as meat and chicken.

Carmelo remembers how he started his business in the year 1995. At that time it was still a family business, since he was a very young merchant. Now the business has grown and it is located in the heart of the Cuidadela 20 de Julio" neighborhood, very close to the metropolitan stadium of Barranquilla, the site where the team "Junior de Barranquilla" plays. This team stirred up a passion for soccer amongst the inhabitants of the northern coast of Colombia, and everyone who comes to visit this city has enjoyed it.
