A loan of $3,075 helped a member to buy shoes and underwear.

Amor Y Paz 1, 3 Group's story

Belkis is the coordinator of her group Amor y Paz 1,3 (Love and peace), and her story is representative of her group and of Esperanza's Haitian and Dominican (many of whom recently emigrated to the DR from Haiti) clients generally. Her group is located in the rural area surrounding El Seibo, an agricultural area, where running water (none of which is potable) and electricity are unreliable. She makes her home here in a simple structure with her long-term partner and 3 children.

Belkis is excited to be taking her 8th loan with Esperanza after having successfully repaid her previous loan and grown her business. She plans to use this loan to invest in her business selling shoes and underwear. She will use the profits to build her home in a stronger structure from wood to concrete block. She thanks you all for your support.
